Bryce Canyon National Park
Utah - February 17, 2001
I took these photos while hiking through Bryce Canyon, between Sunrise and Sunset points.
This park had a landscape like none other I've seen. In addition to amazing color,
the canyon contains thousands of rock spires called "hoodoos." I felt particularly
fortunate to be hiking shortly after a fresh snowfall in the area. The extra moisture
also helped to bring out some amazing colors in the canyon walls.
Additional details about the opening photo of the album, including details about how the
image was processed to bring out the original color of the canyon, are available in the
Photo of the Week
section of the site.
The panoramic shot is taken at "Inspiration Point," around sunset. I don't feel that it's
a particularly good photo, but it does give you a feeling for the scale of the canyon.
