My little girls are getting into the holiday 'spirit'...
(Thanks Megan, this is the cutest onsie!)

Just look at poor Lauren's face! She is terrified that Grace is going to eat all her Halloween candy. Just kidding... the most perceptive of viewers might have noticed the goulish hand that has Lauren by the ankle :)
And more on "spooks"...
Grandma Ann (I think it was she) helped me out of what could have been a sticky situation by telling Lauren that the faces on her new pants were "spooks". So much better than what I could have told her.... "umm, those, well those are faces that pirates put on their flags and that some people use around Halloween" or "well, do you remember the show where Curious George went to the museum with the dinosaur bones and he fell and broke his leg? these are bones like the dinosaurs' skulls and like Curious Geroges' leg, but, umm, these are human bones, like we have under our skin".
So Lauren is old enough this year, and oh so verbal enough, to be asking lots of questions about Halloween decorations. Some of them are pretty scary. I was silly enough to buy her skull and cross bone pants, but even a stroll through our neighborhood isn't safe enough since there are witches, skeletons and ghastly things hanging from our neighbors porches. Why can't we all just stick to decorating with pumpkins? And to add insult to injury, her new beloved Thomas the Train CD has a Halloween themed song it that talks about being scared of the dark and things that say boo, needless to say we skip track number 7.

hey! we have that same tee from Target! maybe the girls should wear them to carve their pumpins???
Ethan is still scared of Halloween ever since that incident on the Haunted Trail. This time of year is awful because there's scary stuff everywhere. I can't go into the grocery store with him. He knows that Walmart has the big pumpkins (scary jack o lanterns), and that Meijer has this huge, looming planet earth (don't ask). He is afraid of anything big, say, like, ISU's redbird mascot. Even the large snowmen at Menard's Christmas Village freaks him out. And his latest Thomas video from the library has some Halloween episode that he doesnt like. So annoying! I don't want him to like the ghoulish part of halloween, but it would be fun to at least dress up in costumes or go trick or treating (no chance of that).
