We spent part of today at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The weather was great, and Lauren had a ball. She enjoyed toddling around on the lawn -- a skill she's developed in the last couple of months, since uneven ground was a challenge at first. She loved being able to push the distance between herself and her parents.
Once Lauren found the fountain in the rose garden, she really got excited. It is right at her height and designed to have water cascade over the edge. She loved showing off her new-found "splash" skills that she's been practicing at Mouse Beach.
Jace had a fun time using his camera. Note to grandparents: your prints are already on order. :) But if you have any particular size requests, just let us know.
Also, take a minute to admire Liz's latest handiwork -- custom hair bows.

Great job on the bows Liz! Neither of my girls will leave barrettes in their hair, no matter how often I try and no matter where on their heads I put them!
What a wonderful grandchild I have!!! I could now have wished for a more beautiful Lauren. And, Liz, the hair clips you made are great too. Looking forward to seeing you three on Labor Day weekend. Dianna and Bret want us to spend it at their home, and run down to see our NEW girl in Dallas one of the days. Your opinion?LOVE, Grandma Saundra
OOPS!!! that should have been NOT have wished...SORRY
i can't believe how red her hair is! it used to be so dark. who has red locks in the family? or maybe it's more of a strawberry blong?
It's definitely gotten lighter, but this picture is deceptive. I think some of it was the sunlight and the photography filter her daddy was working with that day. Her hair definitely has a reddish-brown tint in the sun, but I think the filter took away a bit too much glare and left the red too prominent.
